Privacy Policy

This policy explains how BioTabular handles information on its public pages and in its browser-local analysis workspace.

Scope and current practices

BioTabular does not create user accounts. BioTabular uses Google Analytics on public pages to understand aggregate traffic and improve the service. Google Analytics is not loaded in the private Workspace. In the United States, Analytics is enabled by default on eligible public pages; where consent is required, it is not loaded until the visitor chooses to allow it. Google advertising is not active at this time. We do not sell research datasets or use them for advertising or ad-personalization.

Research data stays local

The analysis workspace processes CSV, TSV, and pasted data in browser memory for the calculation you request. Dataset values, results, and figure settings are not uploaded to a BioTabular application server or automatically saved after refresh.

Workspace safeguards

The Workspace does not load Google Analytics, advertising, remote fonts, or other third-party scripts. Your CSV/TSV contents, column names, entered values, results, and figures remain inside the browser-local application. Please use de-identified research data and do not enter live protected health information, real names, Social Security numbers, or other direct identifiers.

Information you choose to send

If you email us, we receive the information you include, such as your email address and message. We use it to respond to your request, maintain support correspondence, and protect the service. Please do not send sensitive research or participant information by email.

Google Analytics and cookies

On eligible public pages, Google Analytics may receive page URL, browser/device information, and IP-derived location, and may set or read analytics cookies or similar identifiers. We use these reports to understand aggregate public-page traffic. Google Analytics is not loaded in the Workspace, and we do not send research datasets, column names, values, calculated results, figure titles, or other research-derived content to Google Analytics. Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Regional controls and your choices

BioTabular asks its host to make a country-level Analytics decision before the browser loads Google code; the country value itself is not returned to the browser or sent to Google Analytics by BioTabular. Analytics is disabled in Mainland China and other blocked regions. In regions where we require prior consent, you may allow or decline analytics when prompted and change that choice through the Privacy choices control in the footer. Declining analytics does not affect access to the website or the local workspace.

Future advertising

Google advertising is not active. Before advertising is enabled, BioTabular will complete the required legal/privacy review, consent-management configuration, and deployment-edge controls, and will update this policy to describe the live advertising practices. Advertising will remain excluded from the private workspace.

Sharing and service providers

We do not share Workspace datasets with Google Analytics, advertisers, or other third parties. When Analytics is enabled on eligible public pages under the regional controls above, Google processes public-page measurement data under its own applicable policies. We may also rely on providers to host the public website or deliver email; those providers may process only the information needed to provide their service and under their applicable policies and agreements.

Retention and your choices

Because workspace data is not uploaded to our server, we cannot retrieve or delete it for you. BioTabular does not offer project-file import, export, download, or automatic persistence. Imported or pasted workspace data remains only in browser memory for the active page session and is cleared when the page is refreshed or closed. Support messages are retained only as reasonably necessary for the request, service operations, or legal obligations.

Other websites

Public pages may link to external websites, including Google policy pages. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies; review those policies before providing information or accepting their cookies.

Policy changes

We may update this policy as the service or its public-page integrations change. We will post the revised version here and update the date above. Material changes to advertising, consent, analytics, or research-data handling will be reflected before or when those changes take effect.
